AR brings an engaging experience rich with stories and visuals in a way that’s uniquely Jack

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (April 15, 2019) – Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey is rolling out an Augmented Reality (AR) app that will take consumers on a virtual journey of the Jack Daniel Distillery through a series of pop-up book style dioramas with more than 10 minutes of content providing an engaging experience rich with stories and visuals in a way that’s uniquely Jack.

“In today’s world, it’s important for us to reach fans and consumers where they are,” said Jeff Cole, Modern Media Director for Jack Daniel’s. “That means sharing content that’s unique, interesting and relevant though a variety of digital mediums. In 2016, we launched an immersive Virtual Realty experience and in 2018 we launched our official podcast, ‘Around the Barrel.’ This new AR experience is taking our brand storytelling to the next level.”

Once consumers download the dedicated app, they can point their phones at any Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey bottle (from 50mL to 1.75L) to uncover the animations, voice overs, and all the stories that make the more than 150-year old brand so special, from the Cave Spring water to the distilling process, to name a few.

Jack Daniel’s partnered with Tactic, a San Francisco-based company specializing in the production of immersive experiences, to develop the app.

“Augmented reality is in an exciting stage, and new technology and techniques are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible,” said Peter Oberdorfer, President of Tactic. “The Jack Daniel’s AR app features technology that sets the bar for creative storytelling in this new medium. The learnings and best practices from Jack Daniel’s will help inform the development of AR apps across different brands and industries.”

The AR experience is divided into three unique parts, each designed with the look and feel of hand- crafted models and integrate real-time, environmental lighting and textures. The first experience transforms the front label of the bottle into a miniature version of the Jack Daniel Distillery. The second walks step by step through the process of making Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, and the third shares stories of the man himself, Jack Daniel.

The Jack Daniel’s AR app will be available for download in the US for both iOS and Android platforms on April 15.

Double Barreled and Double Mellowed Expression of Jack Daniel’s Now Available Nationwide

LYNCHBURG, Tenn., (APRIL 15, 2019) – After its initial launch as a travel retail exclusive item and select markets in Asia, Jack Daniel’s is officially introducing Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold Tennessee Whiskey to the United States.

A double-barreled and double-mellowed expression of its classic Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 TennesseeWhiskey, the premium bottle brings a fusion between warm maple and toasted oak to create a rich and refined finish suited for today’s whiskey aficionado.

Representative of the skill and craftsmanship of the Jack Daniel Distillery, the process first begins with maturation in new charred American white oak barrels. Once these barrels are determined to be fully matured, they are removed from the barrelhouse and the whiskey is placed into maple wood barrels. The final step is a second time charcoal mellowing before being bottled.

“Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold pays homage to our distillery’s golden rule of, ‘Every day we make it, we’ll make it the best we can,” said Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Jeff Arnett. “The natural amber hue, along with a scent of toasted oak and honey, offer an intricate texture and taste, making this whiskey a very distinct and luxury product.”

Due to the extra time and attention required to craft this ultra-smooth spirit, Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold Tennessee Whiskey was previously only available in select markets. This product launch emphasizes Jack Daniel’s continuous commitment of making high quality whiskeys fully available to a wider consumer.

Best enjoyed neat or on the rocks, the product is now available across the United States for a suggested retail price of $99.99. For more information on Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold Tennessee Whiskey, visit www.jackdaniels.com.

Annual Campaign Helps Junior Enlisted Service Members and Families Travel from Bases to
Homes Across the Country During the Holiday Season

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (November 12, 2018) – For the eighth year, Jack Daniel’s and the Armed Services YMCA (ASYMCA) have kicked off their “Operation Ride Home” campaign that provides financial assistance to active duty junior-enlisted military and their families to travel from their place of military service to back home for the holidays.

Since Operation Ride Home began, a total of 6,410 individual junior-enlisted service members and their family members have travelled from their bases to homes around the country for the holidays. Men and women from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard have been assisted with travel to 47 of the 50 states.

“It means so much for us to be able to give back and help our military heroes and their families spend time with their loved ones,” said Jeff Arnett, Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller. “The overwhelming support for Operation Ride Home has been heartwarming and we’re very grateful. Our goal every year with this worthy program is to get as many service members and their families home as possible.”

“Our junior-enlisted service members are often young and new to the military. Many of them face the burden of isolation and financial insecurity,” said William French, ASYMCA President and CEO. “Operation Ride Home truly embodies our mission of Strengthening Our Military Family and we couldn’t ask for a better partner than Jack Daniel’s to join us in sending these service members home to their loved ones for the holidays.”

The ASYMCA works with the various military commands in specific areas co-located with ASYMCA branches to identify and prioritize junior-enlisted service members and families most in financial need. Plane tickets and pre-paid debit cards are given to assist those traveling.

Jack Daniel’s has once again donated $100,000 to kick off the campaign. The famed distillery is asking friends to visit www.jdoperationridehome.com and make a contribution to help more service members spend the holidays at home. All donations are 100 percent tax deductible.

Operation Ride Home is open to active duty E-4 and below, both single and married, who might not otherwise financially be able to travel home for the holidays. The option to drive or fly is an individual decision. For additional information on eligibility and to view participating installations that qualify for travel assistance, please visit https://www.asymca.org/operation-ride-home.

Timeless technique and historic craftsmanship come together for limited edition product available nationwide in October

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (Oct. 18, 2018) – The Jack Daniel Distillery is celebrating the historic art of barrel-making with a new special edition member of the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Collection. Limited to just 200 barrels, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel “Heritage Barrel” utilizes the unique barrel toasting techniques of the earliest coopers to create a new whiskey rich in flavor yet steeped in tradition.

Master Distiller Jeff Arnett and his team of whiskey makers selected from hand-crafted “Heritage barrels” slowly heated to achieve a deeper, richer toasted layer before being charred. The whiskey then matured at a lower entry proof in the uppermost reaches of one of the highest elevated barrelhouses in Lynchburg, TN and bottled at 100° proof. The result is a flavorful and rich Tennessee whiskey that has warm notes of vanilla and sweet baking spices with a lingering finish of oak.

“We hold ourselves to the highest standard when crafting and selecting Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel products. The unique barrel toasting behind ‘Heritage Barrel’ creates a flavor you won’t find in any other Single Barrel expression,” said Arnett. “We believe we’ve made a whiskey that would make our earliest coopers and Mr. Jack himself proud.”

Jack Daniel’s is the only major whiskey company in the world to make its own barrels, crafted from American white oak. Today, the Jack Daniel Cooperage can produce more than 1,500 barrels per day. The unique barrels crafted to mature “Heritage Barrel” take a trip back in time to Jack’s humble beginnings and celebrate the vital maturation process that takes Tennessee whiskey from the distillery, to the bottle.

The limited edition bottle will hit shelves in October available in a 750ml size with a suggested retail price of $64.99.

New experimental whiskeys will be available at the Jack Daniel Distillery and select stores across Tennessee

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (Oct. 18, 2018) – With more than 150 years of whiskey-making craftsmanship, the Jack Daniel Distillery is launching its Tennessee Tasters’ Selection – a line of limited-release, experimental whiskeys, each carefully chosen by Jack Daniel’s Master Tasters to deliver unique and diverse experiences.

The line will be sold exclusively at the Jack Daniel Distillery and select stores throughout Tennessee. Each release is expected to be approximately 24,000 bottles followed with another limited release every few months.

“This collection exemplifies our whiskey-making in a new way in that each whiskey will undergo its own process for unique flavors chosen by our esteemed Master Tasters,” said Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Jeff Arnett. “We plan on releasing several of these new products each year as we continue to tap the expertise of the Master Tasters who make our Tennessee Whiskey every day.”

The first three whiskeys released in the series are:

  • High Angel’s Share Barrels – whiskey barreled in January 2013 which offered an unusually low yield, presenting a unique and deep concentration of flavors with a dark color at 107-proof. Selected by Assistant Master Distiller and Master Taster Chris Fletcher. Available early-October.
  • Smoked Hickory Finish – a fully matured whiskey finished with charred hickory staves for a smoky flavor at 100-proof, just in time for the 30th annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational BBQ which is held in Lynchburg on Oct. 27. Selected by Master Taster Marsha Hale and available late-October.
  • Reunion Barrel – a 90-proof whiskey finished in wine barrels. These barrels were first used to age Jack Daniel’s, then used for a Tennessee-produced wine, and returned to the Jack Daniel Distillery to finish this specific release. Selected by Master Distiller and Master Taster Jeff Arnett. Available early 2019.

“With this launch, we’re continuing to live by Mr. Jack’s motto that ‘Every day we make it, we’ll make it the best we can’,” continued Arnett. “This time, we’re taking the ‘we’ in that statement to the next level. Jack Daniel’s Master Tasters are an integral part of the quality whiskey we produce every day, and now we’re enabling them to share their expertise with the world by sharing some of their personal favorite, previously unreleased expressions.”

While each whiskey offers a unique taste, color and proof, they will all be sold in 375-ml bottles at a price of $39.99 and available in limited quantity at the Jack Daniel Distillery and select stores across Tennessee. Urban art and music tour elevates experience with new elements for guests in top cities

LYNCHBURG, Tenn., (SEPTEMBER 5, 2018) – Art, Beats and Lyrics (AB+L), a one-of-a-kind cultural experience, returns for the 14th year touring top cities in the U.S. Established in 2004, AB+L has grown from an Atlanta art and music showcase into a nationwide exhibition of urban art and hip-hop that provides an authentic and creative experience for seasoned art collectors; beats and rhymes-lovers and today’s social media selfie-taker.

Presented by Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey in collaboration with Cult Creative, this multi-city tour brings new works of art, live performances and interactive experiences for guests in eight cities – offering platforms for emerging visual and music artists to gain national exposure beside veterans.

This year, AB+L will include electronic art exhibits that look to sync the worlds of tech and art for an astonishing visual experience. Founded and produced by Jabari Graham, and curated by acclaimed multi-medium artist Dwayne “Dubelyoo” Wright, AB+L highlights a spectrum of artists and creatives including painters, photographers and digital illustrators. Artists showcased on AB+L’s decade-plus roster include “He Ain’t Heavy” legend Gilbert Young, present-day art hero Tim Okamura and world renown imagemasters Yung Yemi, C. Flux Sing, Goldi Gold and Diwang Valdez.

Art, Beats and Lyrics hits the road with its uniquely curated showcase of visual masterpieces from nationally and internationally known artists who span a variety of styles and genres in the following cities:

Richmond, VA – September 14

Birmingham, AL – September 28

Chicago, IL – October 12

Atlanta, GA – October 19

St. Louis, MO – November 1

Houston, TX – November 9

Miami, FL – December 14

Charlotte, NC – February 15

Louisville, KY – May 4

Each year, the AB+L tour looks to transform untraditional art venues such as nightclubs, sports stadiums and warehouses into unique exhibit spaces for one night only. For the first time this year, AB+L will be transforming Richmond, Virginia’s Main St. Train Station into

an artistic retreat to launch the tour; and will conclude at NBA All-Star Weekend in Charlotte, NC with pieces that highlight the art of sport. “Art is considered an unreachable luxury by many.

Sometimes because of cost, but more often because of access,” says Dwayne Wright, featured artist and curator of Art, Beats and Lyrics. “AB+L has spent the last 13 years intentionally breaking down these barriers and replacing them with bridges that connect the creative and the curious.”

Music is an important component of the tour. In past years, the tour has featured creative musicians and DJs such as Kendrick Lamar, Scarface, Rhapsody and Master P. Each show is hosted by dynamic duo DJ Wally Sparks and MC Dres Tha Beatnik who masterfully

cater to every audience.

“Art, Beats and Lyrics celebrates the uniqueness of urban art and music, which impacts pop culture on a global scale,” says Tracey Johnson, Senior Multicultural Marketing Manager for Jack Daniel’s. “As a brand, we’ve always been connected to the worlds

of art and entertainment; and Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey is proud to carry on this tradition with the continued support of AB+L, which remains as vibrant as ever entering its 14th year.”

JACK DANIEL’S BOTTLED-IN-BOND NOW AVAILABLE

New 100-Proof Tennessee Whiskey Launches Worldwide as a Global Travel Retail Exclusive

LYNCHBURG, Tenn. (Aug. 1, 2018) – The Jack Daniel Distillery is honoring its commitment to quality with the release of a new 100-proof Jack Daniel’s Bottled-in-Bond Tennessee Whiskey. Jack Daniel’s Bottled-in-Bond is a global travel retail exclusive, now available at select airports worldwide.

A permanent line extension in the Jack Daniel’s Family of Brands, Jack Daniel’s Bottled-in-Bond will be available in major airports and other international points of departure and arrival around the world, making it a perfect gift for yourself or others.

“Whiskey-making in the 1800’s too often produced a hodge-podge of sub-par, counterfeit and even dangerous spirits. Whiskey drinkers at times weren’t sure of what exactly they were drinking or being served,” said Jack Daniel’s Master Distiller Jeff Arnett. “To bring a high level of safety and consistency to American whiskies, the United States Congress passed the Bottled in Bond Act which certified the quality of whiskey carrying that designation. It had to be aged at least four years and bottled at 100 proof at one distillery during a single season. The Bottled in Bond Act was passed in 1897. Mr. Jack began putting his Tennessee Whiskey in the now-familiar square bottle two years earlier in 1895. This new offering replicates those rules that were set more than 120 years ago.”

Every drop of Jack Daniel’s is made in Lynchburg, Tennessee, charcoal mellowed and then matured in new American oak barrels crafted by its own coopers. At 100 proof, Jack Daniel’s Bottled-in-Bond is a bold Tennessee whiskey with rich flavors complemented by classic Jack Daniel’s smoothness.

“One of Jack Daniel’s most famous sayings was, ‘Every day we make it, we’ll make it the best we can,’ and the distillery in Lynchburg has been making the iconic Tennessee whiskey that way every day for over 150 years. In many ways, the introduction of Jack Daniel’s Bottled-in-Bond is a step back into the early days of the distillery when Jack Daniel was pioneering the craft of making Tennessee Whiskey,” said Marshall Farrer, senior vice president and managing director of Brown-Forman Global Travel Retail. “We think so much of this whiskey that we are making it a permanent member of the Jack Daniel’s Family of Brands – a cautious step we take only with the most special of new products.”

The rich, bold, 100-proof Tennessee Whiskey has an aroma of caramel with mild hints of banana and balanced caramel, vanilla and toasted oak flavors with a full-bodied mouth feel leaving a creamy, warm finish. Jack Daniel’s Bottled-in-Bond hits shelves this summer in select duty-free outlets in a 1-liter bottle size and will be offered at a suggested retail price of $37.99.

“Connecting with fans has always been one of the best parts of what we do,” stated NBA Legend Muggsy Bogues. “We’re excited to spend quality time with the lucky winners this summer to share some of our craft on the court and then learn about Jack Daniel’s craft alongside them.”

As an Official marketing partner of the NBA, Jack Daniel’s will also host numerous activities during NBA All-Star 2018. The weekend will tip-off tonight with Jack Daniel’s House No. 7, a two-night experiential extravaganza bringing live music, local lifestyle and the spirit of Lynchburg, Tennessee under one roof. The brand will also bring a taste of Tennessee to Los Angeles with the pop-up Lynchburg General Store, showcasing the different facets of the town that Jack Daniel’s proudly calls home. In addition, Jack Daniel’s has partnered with the notable custom sneaker designer, The Shoe Surgeon to create limited edition Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey Air Force 1 sneakers. Several lucky fans who visit the Lynchburg General Store may get to walk away with a pair.

“We are excited to be able to bring the NBA and Jack Daniel’s experience to consumers at NBA All-Star and offer two lucky fans the experience of a lifetime,” said Laura Petry, Jack Daniel’s Brand Director. “The NBA Legends Camp this summer is going to be an incredible experience for two fans and their friends to spend time with their basketball heroes and immerse themselves in Jack Daniel’s history and whiskey making.”
